No. 2 Michigan Gets Another Test From Strong Maryland Team

Everything you need to know: Kickoff time, TV, point spread, tickets, parking, traffic and more; plus Michigan-Michigan State game photos.

Michigan’s win over rival Michigan State on Saturday was the rare game where the Wolverines were somewhat tested. Michigan controlled the majority of the matchup, but the Spartans never went away and only lost by nine points. Maryland could pose a similar threat to the Wolverines as the Terrapins enter the game with a 5-3 record.

That being said, Michigan is favored by more than 30 points for a reason. The Wolverines have outscored their opponents by 35 points per game and the defense has been ferocious, allowing less than 12 points per contest. Michigan has recorded 27 sacks this year, which is best in the Big Ten, and will be hot on the heels of Maryland quarterback Perry Hills, who threw for 248 yards and 2 touchdowns in Saturday’s 42-36 loss to Indiana.

The Terrapins are looking to rebound from a slide that has seen Maryland lose three of its last four games. Michigan, likely, won’t allow that, though. The Wolverines looked mortal against the Spartans, as Michigan quarterback Wilton Speight didn’t throw for a touchdown (he passed for 244 yards and threw an interception), which doesn’t figure to continue. One player who did not look so mortal was all-everything linebacker/defensive back Jabrill Peppers, who recorded a sack and scored on a touchdown run. As a team, the Wolverines ran for 192 yards and scored three rushing touchdowns.
