Oakland County Man Killed In Crash On I-96: Police

DETROIT — An Oakland County man was killed in a crash on Interstate 96 in Detroit on Monday night, according to Michigan State Police.
The crash happened at 11:50 p.m. in the eastbound express lanes on Interstate 96 near the Southfield Freeway, police said.
Police said the 32-year-old Farmington man was driving a 2004 Toyota when he sideswiped a salt truck and came to a stop in the center lane.

A 2006 Jeep Commander then smashed into the Toyota, which didn't have any lights on, police said.
The man was killed in the crash, police said.

The driver of the Jeep and the salt truck were not injured in the crashes, police said.
"The MSP traffic crash reconstruction unit is continuing to investigate this crash," Michigan State Police First Lt. Mike Shaw said. "This is an unfortunate reminder to drive carefully near snowplows. Please make sure to slow down and give plows plenty of room."
