DETROIT — Officials are looking for a person who jumped into the Detroit River early Thursday morning, according to multiple reports.

Officials said they got a notification about a person in the water around 4:30 a.m. Thursday morning, according to reports.

Officials believe the person got into the water somewhere along Atwater Street, but they do not know where the person may have drifted to due to the strong current, according to reports.

As of 9 a.m. Thursday, U.S. Coast Guard and Detroit Fire Department boats, along with helicopter assistance, were still searching for the person, according to reports.

Officials do not know why the person jumped into the water.
