Pizzeria Holds Drive to Collect Coats and Boots for Matrix

Matrix Human Services to receive new and gently used boots and coats for children five and under collected; donors receive half-priced pizza

Sicily’s Pizzeria is looking to keep children warm in more ways than just serving up some hot, delicious pizza. Now until the end of the year, the longtime Detroit pizza shop will be collecting new and gently used winter boots and coats for children five-years-old and under. The items will be donated to Matrix Human Services.

Each customer who donates a coat or pair of boots to Sicily’s Pizzeria will receive a half-priced pizza. The donation bin will be located inside Sicily’s Pizzeria located at 3554 Vernor Hwy. Donations also will be accepted on the Matrix Human Services’ website (https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/givedetroit).

“I am proud to partner with Matrix Human Services that offers, among many other programs and services, early education, child development and learning for young children with a couple of Head Start and Early Head Start locations just a couple of blocks from my shop," said Ali Beydoun, owner of Sicily’s Pizzeria, who makes it a priority to give back to the community. "With the cold weather season upon us, my goal is to ensure that none of our youngest residents in the neighborhood go without proper attire.”
