Popular Detroit Pizzeria Closing Down

Pizza Cat Max, known for the slogan, "keep pizza weird," announced its permanently closing down its downtown Detroit location.

DETROIT — A Detroit pizzeria is closing down this weekend, according to a Facebook post.

Pizza Cat Max said in the post the restaurant, located on Fort Street in downtown, will permanently shut down at midnight March 3. Officials did not exactly say why the restaurant was closing down.

"We appreciate everyone who has come and been a part of the journey," the post read.

The Detroit location, which opened in 2022, was the Ohio-based pizza spot's first Michigan location. The pizzeria was known for the slogan, "keep pizza weird."

The restaurant's four carryout locations in Oak Park, Westland, Madison Heights and Toledo will remain open, according to the restaurant.
