Popular Greektown Bar In Detroit Adds New Walk-Up Breakfast Window

The first 50 customers to buy something from the walk-up window on Friday, July 19, will get a free mango smoothie.

DETROIT — A popular Greektown Irish bar entered the breakfast game Wednesday.

Detroit's Old Shillelagh opened a new walk-up window that will serve breakfast items, Irish coffees and boozy versions of their breakfast smoothies, according to restaurant officials.

Some of the new items include breakfast bowls with cage-free eggs, plant-based greens and vegetables, as well as healthy smoothies. In addition, the first 50 customers to buy something from the walk-up window on Friday, July 19, will get a free mango smoothie.

The window will be open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. After 11 a.m., which is when the restaurant opens, the menu will be available inside.

"What makes our new walk-up breakfast menu special is that we use only clean ingredients, and so many organic items, like 100% all organic fruit and protein powder in our smoothies, and 100% organic oats in our oatmeal bowls," owner Shellie Lewis said.

The popular Irish pub is located at 349 Monroe St. in Detroit.
