A popular seafood restaurant in downtown Detroit permanently closed its location after nearly eight years.

DETROIT — A popular seafood restaurant in downtown Detroit permanently closed its location after nearly eight years.

Maru Sushi and Grill, located at 160 Fort Street inside the Federal Reserve Building in Downtown Detroit, closed it doors Sunday, according to a notice on its website.

The Michigan-based restaurant chain still has locations in elsewhere in the state, including Kalamazoo, Midland, Lansing and Grand Rapids. Moreover, a new 2025 location is planned for Brighton.

Maru Sushi and Grill is best known for their firecracker shrimp, crouching tiger rolls and hibachi dishes.
