Psych Evaluation Ordered in Illegal Pot Operation Stabbing

Jason Alan Boyce, 42, is accused of stabbing Farmington Hills man in argument over money from large marijuana growing operation.

DETROIT, MI — A Detroit man accused of fatally stabbing his business partner in a large illegal marijuana growing operation last month will undergo competency and criminal responsibility examinations to determine if he is fit to stand trial.

Jason Alan Boyce, 42, was charged with second-degree murder in the Oct. 22 stabbing death of Obiedious Warren Moore, 55, of Farmington Hills. Boyce is accused of stabbing Moore with a “sharp instrument” in a verbal argument over money from their pot operation, according to a news release from the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

Moore died of multiple stab wounds, according to the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office. Boyce turned himself into authorities on Sunday, Oct. 23.

In 36th District Court Wednesday, Judge Deborah Lewis Langston ordered evaluations by the Center for Forensic Psychiatry and set Boyce’s next court date for Feb. 2, 2017.

The pot operation was based in a southwest Detroit warehouse on the 100 block of Green Street, located off Fort Street and south of Interstate 75.
