Quick Spin-Up Tornadoes, Large Hail Possible In Metro Detroit
A line of severe thunderstorms is expected to cross metro Detroit on Sunday evening. Here's what you need to know.
METRO DETROIT — A line of severe thunderstorms that can produce strong winds and large hail is expected to cross southeastern Michigan on Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service.
Meteorologists expect the storms to cross the region between 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. when temperatures reach the upper 80s.
The storms will be capable of producing heavy rainfall, lightning, golf-ball size hail and damaging wind gusts over 60 miles per hour, the weather service said. Forecasters also said "quick-spin tornadoes" are possible.

The storms will move west to east at roughly 40 miles per hours, mainly south of Port Sanilac including Lake St Clair and western Lake Erie, the weather service said.
Any lingering thunderstorms in the region should clear out by Sunday night, before the rain and thundershowers move back into the region Monday morning, the weather service said.
