Rain, Cooler Temps Return After Near-Record Warmth In Metro Detroit
Forecasters expect high temperatures in the metro Detroit area to drop into the 50s by the weekend.
METRO DETROIT — After a stretch of near-record warmth to begin fall in metro Detroit, rain showers and cooler temperatures are on the horizon, according to the National Weather Service.
Highs in the area are expected to soar into the 80s with plenty of sunshine Wednesday, before a slow-moving cold front will push temperatures back into the low 70s with widespread showers Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
Any lingering rain showers should move out of the area by Friday morning as temperatures fall into the 60s, according to the National Weather Service.

Another round of widespread rain showers are expected across metro Detroit on Saturday when temperatures plunge into the 50s, according to the National Weather Service.
High temperatures will stay in the 50s through the weekend and into early next week, according to the National Weather Service.

Here's the National Weather Service's extended forecast for metro Detroit:
Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 83 degrees. South wind 6 to 10 miles per hour.
Thursday: Showers, mainly after 2 p.m. High near 73 degrees. South southwest wind 7 to 11 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Friday: A chance of showers before 8 a.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 68 degrees. West wind 7 to 10 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
Saturday: Showers likely, mainly after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 54 degrees. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
Sunday: A chance of showers after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 54 degrees. Breezy.
Monday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 56 degrees.
