Rain/Snow Mix Will Fall Across Metro Detroit Wednesday: MI Weather

A narrowband of rain and snow showers will cross the metro Detroit area Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

METRO DETROIT — A narrowband of rain and snow showers will cross the metro Detroit area Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather system will quickly roll through the metro Detroit region between 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. as temperatures reach the mid-40s, according to the weather service.

Around 1 inch of fresh snow will accumulate mostly on grassy areas throughout the metro region, according to the weather service. Forecasters also warned strong winds, with gusts reaching between 35 and 40 miles per hour will blow across the region.

Areas in northern Michigan and mid-Michigan will also see up to an inch of fresh snow as the weather system moves through the state, according to the weather service.

Another weather maker could bring heavy rain and thunderstorms to the metro Detroit region overnight Friday into Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Wednesday: Rain showers likely after 11 a.m., mixing with snow after 3 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48 degrees. Breezy, with a southwest wind 10 to 15 miles per hour increasing to 18 to 23 miles per hour in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 33 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 44 degrees. South southwest wind 5 to 10 miles per hour. Rain likely after 2 a.m.

Friday: Rain. High near 60 degrees. Breezy, with a south southwest wind around 23 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 36 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Rain likely, then rain and possibly a thunderstorm after 8 p.m. Low around 42 degrees. Windy. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent.

Saturday: Rain likely, mainly before 8 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52 degrees. Windy. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 50 degrees.
