Rain, Temps Reach 50s For Christmas Day: Metro Detroit Weather

METRO DETROIT — There will be no white Christmas this year in metro Detroit as temperatures area expected to climb into the 50s with rain showers, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters expect temperatures in the metro area to stay above freezing levels Thursday before warmer air moves into the region Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Some in the southern region of metro Detroit can wake up to rain showers Friday, but most of the region won't see rain until the early evening hours when temperatures move into the mid 40s, according to the National Weather Service.

The rain showers will bleed over into Saturday morning before giving away to cloudy skies and temperatures climbing toward the 50s in the metro area, according to the National Weather Service.

Even milder air will move into the metro area on Christmas Eve when high temperatures will reach the 50s under dry and cloudy skies, according to the National Weather Service.

High temperatures in the metro area will stay in the 50s on Christmas Day, making for a spring-like feel for the holiday, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a chance for rain in the metro area on Christmas Day, but it's likely to hold off until late in the evening or even after midnight, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain on Christmas Day is more likely in other parts of Michigan, including the western and northern parts of the state, according to the National Weather Service.
