Royal Oak Man Caused Crash That Killed 2 Women: Prosecutor

A 25-year-old Royal Oak man faces charges after reportedly causing the crash that killed two young women last summer in Detroit.

DETROIT, MI — A 25-year-old Royal Oak man has been charged in the death of two women last summer involved in a several-car pile up in Detroit, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. Authorities say Douglas Muller caused the fatal car crash that killed Shelby Seyburn, 22, of Commerce Township and Sydney Zaleski, 23 of White Lake on June 3, 2017.

The women were reportedly on southbound I-75 at Mack Avenue, on their way downtown with friends, when their Jeep Grand Cherokee was struck by another vehicle, lost control, spun out and rolled over, setting off a chain reaction involving four other cars.

Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw told Fox 2 after the accident that the victims were not wearing seatbelts and that there were about eight people in the vehicle.
