San Francisco Cable Cars Shut Down By Protest
Dozens of people have been arrested in a Labor Day protest with the theme, "One job should be enough."

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — San Francisco's iconic cable cars came to an abrupt halt on Labor Day as protesters blocked the tracks in an effort to gain attention for their cause of higher wages. Their theme, "One job should be enough."
They picked a spot in front of a major hotel owned by Marriott, and then sat down in the street. Dozens of protesters were removed by police who warned in advance that they were subject to arrest if they did not get out of the street and onto the sidewalk.
In addition to the Labor Day protest against Marriott, Kaiser Permanente workers staged a major protest across the Bay in Oakland. Those workers are upset about outsourcing of jobs.
