School Bus Driver Charged In Crash That Killed Detroit Area Girl

A school bus driver is facing charges in connection with a crash that killed a 3-year-old girl​ earlier this summer in Wayne County.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — A school bus driver is facing charges in connection with a crash that killed a 3-year-old girl earlier this summer in Hamtramck, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutor's said the 3-year-old girl was crossing the street at the intersection of Burger and MacKay streets in Hamtramck at 3:06 p.m. on July 16 when she was hit by a bus, according to the prosecutor's office.

The child was taken to Detroit Children's Hospital of Michigan where she died, according to the prosecutor's office.

Prosecutors said 64-year-old Marvin Lee Flentroy, from Pontiac, was driving the bus for Auxilio Services when he struck the young girl.

He was charged with reckless driving and causing death. He was placed in jail with a bond set at $10,000. His next court date is scheduled for next Thursday. If he is released from jail, he cannot drive.

If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
