Severe Storms To Hit Metro Detroit Tuesday, Wednesday: What To Know

Numerous showers and storms are expected to hit the Detroit area Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Scattered showers and storms will move into the area during the afternoon and evening hours with highs in the 70s Tuesday, according to NWS.

Some of the storms could become severe with heavy downpours, large hail and winds up to 60 miles per hour. Forecasters also warned there could be isolated tornadoes.

Stronger and more widespread storms are expected across the Detroit area Wednesday, according to NWS.

Those storms will also develop in the afternoon and evening hours, likely after 4 p.m. and could bring heavy rainfall, according to NWS.

Forecasters warned most areas will see between 1 and 2 inches of rainfall with flash flooding. Some localized areas could see more than 3 inches of rainfall, they warned.

Those storms could also produce large hail, damaging winds greater than 60 miles per hour and isolated tornadoes, according to NWS.

A few showers and storms will linger into Thursday morning, before sunshine moves into the area with highs in the mid 70s, according to NWS.

Friday, which is Juneteenth, will also see sunny skies with highs in the 70s, according to NWS.

The comfortable weather will hang around Saturday, before another chance for rain Sunday and early next week, according to NWS.
