Severe Storms Possible Across Detroit Area Tuesday, Wednesday Amid Hot And Humid Temps

Showers and storms are possible Tuesday across the Detroit area as temperatures soar above average to start Septmeber, according to the National Weather Service.

The best timing for the storms is the late afternoon hours when highs reach the low 90s with the real feel close to 100 degrees, according to NWS.

Forecasters warned any storm that pops up could produce heavy downpours, large hail and winds greater than 60 miles per hour.

All of southeastern Michigan was placed under a marginal risk (level 1/5) for severe weather Tuesday.

Wednesday will be even even hotter with a better chance for severe storms in the afternoon across the region.

Forecasters warned those storms will be capable of producing tornadoes, as well as heavy downpours, gusty winds and large hail.

Southeastern Michigan has been placed under a slight risk (level 2/5) for severe weather Wednesday.

Highs across the Detroit area will stay close to 90 degrees on Thursday and Friday with additional thunderstorm chances, according to NWS.

The stormy conditions with hot and humid temperatures should clear out of the region by the weekend, which looks comfortable with highs in the 80s and plenty of sunshine, according to NWS.
