Severe Thunderstorms Could Hit Detroit Area Wednesday Afternoon: NWS
All of southeastern Michigan is under a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) for severe weather Wednesday afternoon for potentially severe weather.
SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — Severe thunderstorms could hit southeastern Michigan on Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
The powerful thunderstorms are expected to cross southeastern Michigan sometime between 1 and 9 p.m. Wednesday as temperatures reach the low 80s, according to the weather service.
Forecasters warned the storms can produce heavy downpours, large hail and strong wind gusts reaching up to 60 miles per hour, according to the weather service.

The storms will move from the southwest to the northeast at 30 to 35 miles per hour, and should exit the southeastern Michigan region sometime by 8 or 9 p.m., according to the weather service.
Forecasters do not expect any tornado-like activity, according to the weather service.

Thursday should be dry across southeastern Michigan with high temperatures falling back down into the 70s, according to the weather service.
The next chance for rain across southeastern Michigan comes Friday when highs fall below average and struggle to reach 70 degrees, according to the weather service.
Rain showers are also possible during the afternoon hours on both Saturday and Sunday across southeastern Michigan, according to the weather service.
