METRO DETROIT — Showers and thunderstorms are likely to roll through the Metro Detroit area Monday afternoon as heat and humidity builds, pushing temperatures to near 90 degrees, the National Weather Service said.

A second round of showers and thunderstorms could hit the metro area Monday night, bleeding over into Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service said. But without the heat and humidity, meteorologists don't expect any severe weather overnight.

Any lingering showers and storms in the metro area Tuesday morning should wrap up by 7 a.m., paving the way for sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80s, the National Weather Service said.
