Severe Thunderstorms Possible Across Metro Detroit Thursday
Forecasters warned the strongest threat for severe thunderstorms will be in areas south of Interstate 96 in the metro Detroit region.
METRO DETROIT — Showers and thunderstorms are expected to hit southeastern Michigan on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters said the scattered thunderstorms will move across the region sometime between 2 and 8 p.m. when highs reach the upper 70s. Some storms could produce heavy rainfall, strong wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and hail up to 1 inch in diameter, according to the National Weather Service.
The strongest threat for severe thunderstorms will be in areas south of the Interstate 96 corridor in the metro Detroit region, according to the National Weather Service.

A hazardous weather outlook was issued for Lenawee, Monroe, Washtenaw and Wayne counties.
Any lingering showers and thunderstorms should taper off sometime Thursday night around midnight when lows dip down into the 50s, according to the National Weather Service.

Here’s the latest forecast for southeastern Michigan, per the National Weather Service:
Thursday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 78 degrees. West wind 3 to 8 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Friday: Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 76 degrees. North wind 9 to 14 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 22 miles per hour.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 81 degrees. North northwest wind around 9 miles per hour.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 84 degrees.
