SOUTHEASTERN MICHIGAN — Wednesday will be another day of record-high temperatures across southeastern Michigan just before rain showers and possible thunderstorms roll into the region Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

High temperatures Wednesday will reach the upper 60s and lower 70s in most places across southeastern Michigan, according to the National Weather Service.

The average high for this time of the year in southeastern Michigan is 45 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Spotty rain showers are possible Wednesday when temperatures hit the lower 70s in the metro Detroit area, but any shower that pops up should be south of Interstate 94 and toward the Ohio border, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters said the first round of thunderstorms will likely move into southeastern Michigan during the afternoon hours when temperatures hit the low 60s, according to the National Weather Service.

A second round of thunderstorms is likely to follow during the evening hours when temperatures start falling toward the upper 40s, according to the National Weather Service.

The thunderstorms can be severe with heavy downpours, wind gusts reaching up to 60 miles per hour, large hail up to 1 inch in diameter and even a tornado can't be ruled out, according to the National Weather Service.
