Severe Storms Could Bring Hail, Tornadoes: MI Weather

Most of southeastern Michigan is under a slight risk (level 2 of 5)​ for severe weather Thursday.

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — Severe thunderstorms could hit southeastern Michigan Thursday as heat and humidity build throughout the afternoon hours, according to the National Weather Service.

The storms are expected to cross southeastern Michigan sometime between 3 and 10 p.m. Thursday when high temperatures climb into the upper 80s, near 90 degrees, according to the weather service.

Forecasters warned the storms can produce heavy downpours, large hail, strong wind gusts and an isolated tornado, according to the weather service.

Any storms that move through southeastern Michigan should exit the region by midnight as a light cold front settles in the area, according to the weather service.

The cold front will knock temperatures across southeastern Michigan back down into the upper 70s and low 80s for Friday and Saturday, according to the weather service.

Temperatures will climb back into the upper 80s across southeastern Michigan on Sunday before highs soar into the upper 90s early next week, according to the weather service.
