Snow Accumulation Possible Across Detroit Area Friday Morning

Strong winds will also move into the area early Friday morning.

Snow showers and high winds will move into the Detroit area late Thursday night and into Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The snow will begin falling as early as midnight and continue through at least 9 a.m. Friday, the weather service said.

The Detroit region will see up to an inch of fresh snow, while areas north of M-59 could see between 1 and 3 inches of fresh snow by Friday morning.

Steady winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts reaching up to 55 miles per hour at times will also move into the area early Friday morning.

Forecasters warned the strong winds and snow could reduce visibility on the roads.

Most of the snow will move out of the region by Friday morning, though isolated flurries will linger into the afternoon, the weather service said.

More stormy weather is possible across the region through the weekend. Another round of light snow will move into the area late Saturday before shifting into rain and thunderstorms on Sunday with highs in the 50s, the weather service said.

The rain will then mix with snow during the overnight hours and into Monday morning, the weather service said.
