Forecasters expect the snow to move into the metro Detroit area Sunday morning before mixing with rain across most communities in the area during the afternoon hours, according to the National Weather Service.
The wintry mix will then shift Sunday night back to all snow, which will linger into Monday morning in the metro Detroit area, according to the National Weather Service.

Up to an 1 inch of fresh snow is possible in most communities in the metro Detroit area, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures in the metro Detroit area will remain cold throughout the weekend with highs staying in the 30s and lows dropping into the 20s, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters expect other areas in Michigan to see more snow. Areas north of the metro Detroit area can see between 1 and 2 inches of fresh snow, while some areas in west Michigan can see up to 3 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.
Parts of northern Michigan can also see up to 2 inches of snow, and even up to 6 inches of fresh snow in the Sault Ste. Marie, according to the National Weather Service.
