Snow Returns Thursday, -15 Wind Chills By Weekend: Metro Detroit Weather

Forecasters expect a couple inches of fresh snow across the Detroit area Thursday night into Friday morning.

Snow returns to the Detroit area Thursday just before another cold blast moves into the region this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Light snow showers are expected to move into the area during the late afternoon and evening hours. The snow will get heavier through the overnight hours and wrap up Friday morning, the weather service said.

Forecasters expect up to 3 inches of fresh snow across the region.

Highs will climb above freezing levels Friday, but strong northwest winds with gusts up to 40 miles per hour will bring back very cold temperatures, the weather service said.

Friday's low will fall to near zero degrees with wind chills dropping as low as 15 degrees below zero by Saturday morning, the weather service said.

The cold temperatures will stick around through the weekend before a modest warmup early next week, the weather service said.
