METRO DETROIT — A strong cold front will bring snow showers and strong winds into the metro Detroit area Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
Snow showers will quickly transition from rain and move into the metro area during the afternoon hours when temperatures drop into the 30s, according to the National Weather Service.
Most of the metro area will see less than an inch of fresh snow (mostly on grassy surfaces), while some areas, especially in the Thumb region can see several inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

Areas along the Lake Michigan shoreline can see up to 6 inches of snow throughout Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Winds across the metro area will also pick up during the afternoon hours, with steady wind gusts between 30 and 40 miles per hour and isolated wind gusts reaching up to 50 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.

The strong winds and any lingering snow showers in the metro area should dissipate sometime Monday evening when wind chills push temperatures into the low 20s, according to the National Weather Service.
Tuesday will be clear and cold, with wind chills pushing temperatures to near 10 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
