It’s something Stephanie Mckire learned from her father at a young age, something that she would hold close to her heart from then on, and something to guide her through the eventual cancer diagnosis that would change the course of her life for good.
It means that Stephanie was never one to shy away from adversity, whether it be earning her bachelor’s in electrical engineering or her master’s in business. She was always able to lift herself above the crowd, and she loved to lift others up too.

First establishing herself as a highly reputable app developer, she later co-founded Girls That Can, a non-profit working to close the gender gap in the science, technology, engineering and math sectors. The organization helps young girls enter a field in which women have been historically underrepresented.
The Pink Fund, a charity directed towards supporting breast cancer patients while they receive treatment, decided to return the favor when Stephanie needed it most. After she was diagnosed with breast cancer the Pink Fund provided her with the basic needs of any patient along with additional support.

Whenever the financial burden or emotional stress of treatment becomes too much to bare, The Pink Fund, with the aid of individual donors and organized fundraising events, can alleviate some of the strain. The premiere event is being held on October 5th at the Silver Garden Event Center in Detroit.
The event is called Dancing with the Survivors and at 6:30 pm you can watch Stephanie and other survivors paired with a professional dancers from the Fred Astaire Dance Studios performing ball room style moves while raising money for local patients.
