Northerly winds will push into the metro Detroit area Thursday, keeping temperatures in the 70s for the next few days, forecasters said.

METRO DETROIT — Scattered showers will move through the metro Detroit area Thursday as temperatures begin cooling down, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters expect the bulk of the showers to cross the area sometime in the afternoon when temperatures reach highs in the upper 70s, according to the National Weather Service.

Spotty showers are also likely in the evening and nighttime hours as northerly winds push into the area, according to the National Weather Service.

The northerly winds will hang around in the metro area for the next couple of days, keeping high temperatures in the 70s and lows dropping into the 50s, according to the National Weather Service.

Thursday: Scattered showers, mainly after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77 degrees. West southwest wind 6 to 10 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 70 degrees. North wind around 7 miles per hour.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 73 degrees. North northeast wind 7 to 9 miles per hour.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 76 degrees.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 75 degrees.
