Squirrel Stores 50 Pounds Of Pinecones In Man’s Car

One Michigan man was in for quite a surprise when he checked the car he'd been storing for the winter.

MICHIGAN — A Northern Michigan man was in for quite a surprise when he opened the hood of his car stored away for the winter and found that someone else had been preparing for the winter too. Inside was an estimated 50 pounds of pine cones a squirrel had gathered and meticulously placed all throughout the engine area under his hood.

“Remember to check your engine bays this time of year! The squirrels are sneaky,” friend Gabe Awrey posted on Facebook. The pine cones reportedly expanded from the heat of the engine but luckily there were no problems when the owner cleaned out the pinecones and started his car. Kellen Moore, who reportedly owns the car, said he’ll now be spending the night in his car.

”I'm going to strangle that squirrel with my bare hands,” he joked on Facebook.
