The Starbucks coffee shop in Midtown permanently closed its doors because of safety concerns, according to the company.

DETROIT — The Starbucks coffee shop in Midtown permanently closed its doors because of safety concerns, according to the company.
The coffee shop on Woodward and Mack avenues, near Whole Foods, permanently shut down Sunday. The store opened in 2006.
A Starbucks spokesperson told the Detroit News multiple store employees reported numerous public safety concerns, including theft and threats of physical violence.

Starbuck's representatives were working with the coffee shop and the city of Detroit to provide a safer environment for employees and customers, but couldn’t find a solution, according to Daily Detroit.
The news of the Detroit coffee shop's closure comes after Starbuck's closed 16 other coffee shops around the country due to safety concerns. Those store closures were in Seattle, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Washington and Portland, Oregon.
