Strong Storms Can Bring Heavy Rain And Hail Wednesday: MI Weather

Forecasters warned some of those storms can produce heavy downpours, penny size hail and damaging wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour.

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — More storms are possible Wednesday afternoon across southeastern Michigan, according to the National Weather Service.

Scattered showers are expected to move into the Detroit area sometime late Wednesday morning and continue through the afternoon hours when highs reach the low 80s, according to the National Weather Service.

Isolated thunderstorms can develop within those afternoon showers, especially in areas south of Michigan 59, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters warned some of those storms can produce heavy downpours, penny size hail and damaging wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour. The main window for the storms is between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

A cooler and less humid air mass will move into southeastern Michigan late Wednesday night, keeping highs in the 70s for Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
