Multiple rounds of powerful thunderstorms are expected to hit the Detroit area this week, according to the National Weather Service.
Highs will reach the upper 70s Monday before the first round of storms move into the area sometime after 8 p.m., the weather service said.
The storms will linger into the overnight hours with potential for heavy downpours, large hail and strong winds, the weather service said.

The storms should move out of the area by 9 a.m. Tuesday. Another round of storms will cross the area during the late afternoon hours when highs again climb toward 80 degrees across the region, the weather service said.
Those storms will be stronger and could linger into the overnight hours.

In addition to heavy rainfall and large hail, those storms will also be capable of producing winds up to 60 miles per hour and isolated tornadoes, forecasters warned.
All of southeastern Michigan has been placed under a slight (level 2/5) risk for severe weather Tuesday night.
More thunderstorms will cross the region Wednesday and Thursday, though forecasters do not expect any severe weather those days.
Friday will be dry with afternoon highs in the 70s before more rain moves into the area during the nighttime hours, the weather service said.
