Strong Thunderstorms Could Hit Detroit Area Tuesday: NWS

Forecasters do not expect any severe weather, but warned some of the storms can produce heavy downpours, small hail and strong wind gusts.

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — Powerful thunderstorms are possible Tuesday afternoon across the Detroit area, according to the National Weather Service.

Scattered rain showers will move into southeastern Michigan in the morning before the storms cross the region during the afternoon hours, when high temperatures reach the low 70s, according to the weather service.

Forecasters do not expect any severe weather, but warned some of the storms can produce heavy downpours, small hail and strong wind gusts reaching up to 40 miles per hour across southeastern Michigan, according to the weather service.

Scattered showers are possible again throughout the morning and afternoon hours Wednesday across southeastern Michigan, though most of the region should stay dry with highs reaching the upper 60s, according to the weather service.

High temperatures across southeastern Michigan warm back up into the 70s under sunny skies to round out the week, according to the weather service.
