Several Chances For Storms On The Way Across Detroit Area: What To Know

There are multiple chances for storms across the Detroit area to end the workweek, according to the National Weather Service.

Highs will climb into the 70s Thursday with plenty of sunshine across most parts of the region. There is a chance for an afternoon storm in areas between US 23 and Interstate 75, the weather service said.

Forecasters do not expect any storm that pops up Thursday to become severe.

Stronger storms are expected across the Detroit region Friday when highs again climb into the 70s, the weather service said.

Those storms will move into the region sometime during the afternoon hours, and bring chances for heavy downpours, large hail and strong winds reaching up to 60 miles per hour, the weather service said.

Forecasters do not expect any tornado threats with those storms.

The region was placed under a marginal risk (1/5) for severe storms Friday.

The storms could linger into Saturday morning, before giving way to a sunny weekend with highs in the 60s, the weather service said.
