Thousands Without Power In Metro Detroit After Storms

The largest outages were in Oakland County, including the Livonia, Plymouth, Rochester Hills and Southfield areas.

METRO DETROIT — Roughly 26,000 DTE customers in the metro Detroit area were without power Thursday morning after Wednesday's thunderstorms rolled through the area, according to the utility.

The largest outages were in Wayne and Oakland counties, including the Livonia, Plymouth, Rochester Hills and Southfield areas. Areas in Macomb County, including Clinton Township and St. Clair Shores also saw large outages, according to the utility.

DTE said it has more than 650 crews working in the field to restore power.

Residents in Northern and Western Michigan also lost power after the storms, as Consumers Energy said it's working to restore power to more than 50,000 homes and business. The hardest hit counties across the state were Genesee, Jackson, Allegan, Barry, Calhoun and Kalamazoo.

DTE and Consumers did not provide exact restoration times, but said most areas should their power back on by Thursday night or sometime Friday.
