Thunderstorms Expected In Metro Detroit This Evening

The National Weather Service said any storm has the capability to become severe and some areas could see intense periods of rain.

METRO DETROIT — The National Weather Service on Tuesday issued a hazardous weather outlook for portions of Southeast Michigan, including Macomb, Oakland and Wayne Counties.

Thunderstorms are expected across the region toward the late afternoon and evening hours, as a cold front moves through.

The National Weather service also said that these thunderstorms will be capable of producing wind gusts to 60 mph and hail to one inch in diameter.

However, widespread heavy rainfall is not expected, but some areas could witness intense thunderstorms or multiple rounds of rain, which could lead to some urban and poor drainage flooding.

In addition, an isolated tornado will be possible.
