Thunderstorms, Gusty Winds Possible In Metro Detroit Wednesday Evening

METRO DETROIT — A sweeping cold front Wednesday evening could bring strong thunderstorms and gusty winds to the Metro Detroit area, according to the National Weather Service.

Meteorologists said Metro Detroiters should prepare for the thunderstorms to bring strong winds up to 50 miles per hour with periods of heavy rain and possible hail between 6 and 11 p.m.

Highs in the Metro Detroit area are expected to reach 70 degrees Wednesday before the moving cold front pushes temperatures down into the 50s, according to the National Weather Service.

Wednesday night's rain showers and thunderstorms are expected to bleed over into Thursday morning, but they should wrap up around 3 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Spotty showers will linger in the Metro Detroit area throughout Thursday as highs only reach the mid-50s with gusty winds reaching 20-30 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.

The gusty winds will stick around for a few days, as Friday looks dry with highs reaching the middle 50s before the region's next rain chances on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
