METRO DETROIT — Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Monday afternoon across metro Detroit, according to the National Weather Service.

The storms will develop by midday and cross the metro region sometime in the early afternoon hours when temperatures reach the low 70s, according to the National Weather Service.

Any lingering thunderstorms should fizzle away by the evening hours, possibly allowing for a few peaks of sunshine before overnight lows drop into the upper 60s, according to the National Weather Service.

Highs will jump back into the 80s Tuesday before another chance of rain on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Monday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11 a.m. Cloudy, with a high near 72 degrees. West southwest wind 7 to 9 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 83 degrees. Northwest wind around 15 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 22 miles per hour.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 86 degrees. Southwest wind 5 to 10 miles per hour.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 83 degrees.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 83 degrees.
