Thunderstorms Possible Thursday, Friday: Metro Detroit Weather

Any thunderstorm that pops up can produce heavy rainfall and wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible in southeastern Michigan, especially in the thumb region Thursday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters expect the best chances for the storms to pop up will between 1 and 7 p.m. when a cold front sweeps into the area, keeping temperatures in the low 80s, according to the National Weather Service.

Multiple rounds of thunderstorms are also possible Friday evening into the nighttime hours across southeast Michigan, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters do not expect any severe weather Friday, although some storms west of U.S. 23 could produce heavy rainfall and gusty winds, according to the National Weather Service.

The rain showers and scattered storms should clear out of the region by Sunday, when temperatures should reach the low 80s under clear skies, according to the National Weather Service.
