United Way for Southeastern Michigan Honored by Wayne County Commissioners
Commissioners Present Resolution for 100 Years of Service

As part of United Way for Southeastern Michigan's year-long centennial celebration, Wayne County commissioners honor the nonprofit for 100 years of service to the community. Chairman Gary Woronchak took time from the commissioner's meeting to acknowledge the occasion by presenting a formal resolution to United Way President and CEO Dr. Herman Gray.
Earlier this year, United Way for Southeastern kicked off its milestone with the launch of a new online volunteer portal. Since that time more than 1,000 volunteers have signed up to make impact in their communities. Additional festivities are also planned to celebrate the centennial including:
- Hosting a social media contest in October aimed at helping United Way reach 10,000 Facebook followers. Once the goal is met, followers will be randomly selected to win prizes.
- Hosting a benefit gala, a first for United Way, early next year.
