Urbānum Receives Recognition from Premier Trade Magazine

Urbānum, a Detroit-focused lifestyle and gift retailer, has been honored with a 2020 Retail Star from the editors of ­Home Accents Today, the premier trade magazine for the home accents industry.

As a Home Accents Today Retail Star, Urbānum was recognized for its innovative approaches to marketing and merchandising as well as making an impact on the local community. Now in its 16th year, the annual Retail Stars list, is a celebration of 50 of the home furnishings industry’s most creative and forward thinking store operators. Urbānum the only retail shop in Michigan to be included in this year’s list.

“Urbānum has been a labor of love, and I am honored and humbled by this recognition,” said Detroit resident-turned-shopkeeper Brigid Beaubien. “Our customers-who have become our dear friends -were the inspiration for the new shop and we’re humbled that we’re living up to their high expectations.”

Beaubien has carefully selected, curated, created and perfected the Urbānum collection inside an 1,800-square-foot showroom with the goal of helping Detroiters put their personal stamp on their living spaces. The Retail Stars list, presented by AmericasMart Atlanta and Las Vegas Market, is published each year in Home Accents Today’s May issue. It recognizes independent brick-and-mortar retailers of home accents — including furniture stores, home accessories boutique stores and interior design showrooms — that merchandise creatively, have a positive presence in their local communities and stand out from the competition. This year’s list was compiled and narrowed down by research analysts and Thomas Lester, Home Accents Today’s digital and managing editor.
