VP Kamala Harris, Running Mate To Visit Detroit Next Week

Campaign officials did not exactly say when and where the event will be held.

DETROIT — Vice President and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris will visit Detroit next week with her new running mate, according to news reports.

Campaign officials did not specifically say exactly which day Harris will be in Detroit, or where exactly the event will be held, according to news reports.

As of Wednesday morning, Harris has yet to announce a running mate. Potential selections are believed to include Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

While Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has repeatedly said she doesn't plan on leaving the state, Michigan Sen. Gary Peters has emerged as a dark horse candidate in the vice presidential sweepstakes, according to a new Axios report.

Harris was last in Michigan on July 17, when she spoke at Portage's Air Zoo Aerospace & Science Museum. President Joe Biden then announced he would not seek reelection a few days later.
