WARREN, MI — Voters in the Warren area will decide the candidates for Michigan's vacant 13th district house seat, which includes Warren and parts of east Detroit.

The special election is necessary after former Rep. Lori Stone, D-Warren, won a local mayoral race in November's 2023 election.

The winners will then face off in a special election for the Lansing seat on April 16.

The winner of the special election will serve in Lansing through the remainder of each candidate's term, which goes through the end of this year. In Michigan, state representatives serve two-year terms and earn $71,685 annually.
