Wayne County Corrections Officer Killed In Detroit
The officer was shot and killed overnight at East Forest Avenue and Chrysler Drive in Detroit.
DETROIT — A Wayne County Corrections Officer was killed in Detroit on Monday morning, according to a report from The Detroit News.
Officials said Devante Jones, 23, was shot and killed while fleeing from his vehicle at the intersection of East Forest Avenue and Chrysler Drive in Detroit around 4:50 a.m., police said.
He was rushed to Detroit Receiving Hospital, but died from multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

"We offer our condolences and prayers to the family who have lost their loved one in the most tragic way," Sheriff Raphael Washington told the Detroit News in a statement. "This resonates with all of us on the job. We’re going to do all we can find out what happened."
