Wayne County Kroger Employee Threatens To Shoot Up Store: Police

A Westland Kroger employee was arrested Monday after threatening to shoot co-workers and customers inside the store, according to police.

WESTLAND, MI — A Westland Kroger employee was arrested Monday after threatening to shoot employees and customers inside the store, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

Jonathan Lee Stieber, 37, of Garden City, was charged with one count of threat of terrorism. He was placed in jail on a $25,000 bond and he must wear a GPS tether if he is released. His next court date is scheduled for April 25.

Police said Stieber threatened to shoot fellow employees and customers Sunday inside the Kroger store on North Middlebelt Road just north of Warren Road.

A co-worker employee reported their concerns to police who then arrested Stieber in connection with making the threats, according to the prosecutor's office.

"This was potentially another incident that may have cost a lot of people their lives. Very thankfully, this was thwarted by a fellow employee at a Kroger store in Westland. The coworker reported his concerns immediately so law enforcement could start investigating," Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said.
