Weekend Weather: Flooding, Freezing Rain Warnings Issued
A lot of rain is in the forecast (typical for spring), but the chance for freezing rain and flooding cities means extra precautions.

DETROIT, MI — There’s so much rain up ahead in the forecast that the National Weather Service has issued a warning about possible flooding in southeast Michigan. A total of up to 2-3 inches of rain is expected to fall down across metro Detroit this weekend, with further warnings of wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour. Thunderstorms may sneak in over the weekend, too.
“Widespread moderate to heavy rain will develop Friday night through Sunday,” the warning cautions. “Storm total rainfall of 2 to 3 inches distributed over the course of multiple days will limit flood concerns to localized minor flooding, especially in urban areas.”
The temperature won’t dip too low, but freezing rain is also possible along the I-69 corridor on Saturday and may extend south toward the M-59 corridor, according to the warning. Take extra caution on those slick roads. Also note that Sunday night brings snow showers, heading into the week.
