What You Need To Know About Flower Day At Eastern Market
Don't miss Detroit's most popular flower sale. It's a springtime tradition.

DETROIT, MI — Flower Day at Eastern Market is coming up, one of the most popular springtime traditions around the city. On May 20, the sheds will be transformed with fresh blooms, interesting floral arrangements, just-cut greenery and garden-ready plants, all for purchase.
The annual event always takes place on the Sunday after Mother’s Day and has been an Eastern Market tradition since 1967. Growers come from all around Michigan and the special day is made possible by Metro Detroit Flower Growers Association, which shares 15 acres of the hardiest varieties of flowers for the region.

Go early to get the good stuff
The market runs all day, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., but get there early because all the best deals go quickly and by the afternoon a lot of things are picked over.
It should be a nice day for a stroll
The weather forecast for that Sunday predicts a cloudy day, but warm temps in the mid-70s and a low chance for any rain.
Parking is free on Sundays
Eastern Market is located at 2934 Russell Street. There’s three parking lots and structures in the area and plenty of street parking. Parking is free on Sundays, including the Eastern Market Parking Garage on Riopelle Street and the large lots at the north corners of the market on Wilkins Street. At peak times you may have to hunt a little, but people frequently come and go, opening up spaces.
