'White Boy Rick' Wershe Jr. Granted Parole
The Michigan Parole Board says it will release "White Boy Rick" Wershe Jr. parole from a life sentence on a drug conviction.

DETROIT, MI — Richard “White Boy Rick” Wershe Jr. was granted parole Friday from a life sentence in a 1988 drug conviction, according to media reports. He will be released from custody in mid-August under the Michigan Parole Board decision.

Wershe, 47, was paroled after almost three decades in prison, The Detroit News. His original sentence on the conviction to deliver more than 650 grams of a controlled substance was life without parole, but that later amended to allow early release.

Authorities in Florida will be notified of Wershe’s release. He has 22 months remaining on a five-year sentence there. Florida penal authorities said in a statement that Wershe’s sentence remains unchanged.
