Winter Storm Updates: Flight Cancellations, Snow Emergencies
As of Wednesday morning, more than 188 flights in and out of metro Detroit were canceled due to the impending snowstorm.
METRO DETROIT — As of Wednesday morning, 188 flights were canceled into or out of Detroit Metro Airport, with more than a foot of snow is expected in metro Detroit, according to flight tracking service Flight Aware.
Flights arriving from other areas of the U.S., such as Ohio and New York. were affected due to the snowstorm. The snow also impacted several inbound flights from Bay City, Kalamazoo and Lansing.
In addition, over four dozen flights were cancelled going to those cities.

Amtrak was also forced to modify its travel schedules over the next two days, including canceling trips to Chicago from Pontiac. Trips out of Port Huron and Grand Rapids to Chicago were also canceled.
Meanwhile, SMART Bus services said it is working hard to ensure buses remain operating and on schedule, but riders should be prepared for delays as heavy snow sets in by Wednesday afternoon.

Several cities in the metro area issued snow emergencies, which requires residents to get their vehicles off the streets to make it easier for plowing — or face parking fines and other enforcement.
Here’s a list of the communities that have issued snow emergencies so far:
Macomb County
- Center Line: From 7 p.m. Tuesday until further notice.
- Chesterfield Township: From 4 a.m. Wednesday until 8 a.m. Friday.
- Fraser: From 7 a.m. Wednesday until 3 pm.. Friday.
- New Haven: From 6 p.m. Tuesday until further notice.
- Roseville: From noon Wednesday until further notice.
- St. Clair Shores: From 7 p.m. Tuesday until further notice.
- Sterling Heights: From 7 p.m. Wednesday until further notice.
Oakland County
- Auburn Hills: From 8 a.m. Wednesday until further notice.
- Bloomfield Township: From 7 a.m. Wednesday until further notice.
- Clawson: From 11 p.m. Tuesday until 3 p.m. Friday.
- Farmington: From 6 p.m. Tuesday until further notice.
- Farmington Hills: From noon Wednesday until further notice.
- Huntington Woods: From 6 a.m. Wednesday until noon Friday.
- Oak Park: From 8 a.m. Wednesday until noon Friday.
- South Lyon: From 8 a.m. Wednesday until 5 p.m. Friday.
- Southfield: From 11 p.m. Tuesday until further notice.
Wayne County
- Brownstown Township: From 5 a.m. Wednesday until 4 p.m. Thursday
- Canton Township: From 6 a.m. Wednesday to noon Sunday.
- Dearborn: From 1 a.m. Wednesday until noon Friday.
- Detroit: Snow emergency routes effective midnight on Feb. 2
- Flat Rock: From 7 a.m. Wednesday until 7 a.m. Friday.
- Garden City: Effective 8 a.m. on Feb. 2
- Grosse Pointe Farms: From 9 a.m. Wednesday until further notice.
- Grosse Pointe Park: From 8 a.m. Wednesday until 5 p.m. Friday.
- Grosse Pointe Woods: From 8 a.m. Wednesday until further notice.
- Inkster: From 7 p.m. Tuesday until 7 p.m. Monday (Feb. 7).
- Lincoln Park: From 9 a.m. Wednesday until 5 p.m. Friday.
- Melvindale: From 6 a.m. Wednesday until noon Friday.
- Rockwood: From noon Wednesday until further notice.
- Wayne: From 7 a.m. Wednesday until further notice.
- Westland: From 4 p.m. Wednesday until further notice.
- Woodhaven: From 12 a.m. Wednesday until further notice.
