1. Lima Township Board Trustee Steps Down (thesuntimesnews.com) — Lima Township, served from its Dexter mailing address, now has an open trustee seat after Greg McKenzie resigned following decades of service. Residents who are registered voters in the township can apply by submitting a letter and resume by September 11. The board will review candidates at its September 14 meeting to appoint someone through November 2028.
2. 10 African American students enrolled at Mill Creek Middle School in 2024-25 (annarbortimes.com) — Mill Creek Middle School in the Dexter Community School District enrolled 10 African American students in 2024–25, a 25% increase from the previous year, while overall enrollment reached 525. District data also show Dexter High School has the highest number of African American students locally, against a backdrop of declining statewide enrollment, especially among white students.
3. 2 scam reports in Dexter for week ending Aug. 22, 2026 (annarbortimes.com) — Dexter residents saw two scams reported to the Better Business Bureau for the week ending August 22, with losses totaling nearly $550, both tied to online purchases. One involved discounted trading cards and misleading shipping updates. The BBB urges residents to use its Scam Tracker to research suspicious offers and share experiences to help neighbors avoid similar frauds.
4. Maize and Blue to Open 2026 Season at Michigan Open - University of Michigan Athletics (mgoblue.com) — University of Michigan's women's cross country team opens its 2026 season this Friday at the Michigan Open in Hudson Mills Metropark, right in Dexter. The 5 p.m. meet is open to spectators, with a $10 vehicle pass required. Several returning standouts and new runners will be competing, giving local fans an early look at this year's squad.
